When I stepped into Rolling Rails Lodge, I was immediately greeted by a beautiful lady and a young girl. My first thought, “Wow, this is the most relaxed bride in the world.” She was just happily walking about with a very carefree attitude. Turns out, this was not my bride. It was her twin sister! Leslie, my bride, was getting her hair done. If she was at all nervous about the day or staying on top of schedule, she didn’t show it. Her flower girl reminded her to delegate as the bride shouldn’t have to worry about anything. Wise young lady! And she looked oh so adorable admiring herself next to the bridal gown!!
Although we started running behind schedule, there was constantly calmness throughout the day. Even the threat of rain didn’t phase us. I love that we were able to have quiet moments of Leslie reading a letter from Austin, of their maid of honor and best man adorning “I Do” and “Me Too” stickers to the bottom of their soles, and of the girls admiring and fussing over Leslie’s beautiful gown.
I have so many favorite memories from the day! I think topping that list might be the first look shared between Leslie and Austin. The anticipation was palpable! And then the nerves immediately got replaced with excitement. The look on their faces as they really took in one another. The kiss. The warm embrace. And then for a split second, there’s a bashful look as if they’re teenagers falling in love for the first time. ❤️
Another favorite memory was when I began swelling with pride the moment they said “I do”. It’s pretty uncanny, actually. I’m not related to Leslie or Austin. And yet I felt like cheering at the top of my lungs when they finally tied the knot. Perhaps because I’m aware how tough it has been to postpone a wedding and to plan it amidst uncertainties. These two not only survived the COVID ordeal, but thrived. And Austin’s reaction to seeing his bride walk down the aisle? A healthy mix of pride, joy, and love. Oh I couldn’t be happier for these two!
And it’s not just a world for two. Leslie and Austin value their family and friendships so much. You can see the jolting energy during the reception. Their faces lit up as they hugged loved ones on the dance floor. And they really know how to throw a party. 🙂 The reception was a lot of fun and carried so much meaning. Gwen (twin sister and maid-of-honor) gave a touching toast – not a dry eye in the room! See for yourself how beautiful and perfect the day was:
