This summer, our dynamic duo, Khai and Khang, insisted on a vacation brimming with wildlife encounters and breathtaking landscapes. Intrigued by their enthusiastic vision, we traded the charming European cafés and museums for Alaska’s untamed wilderness.
An Aerial View of the Majestic Land
Alaska greeted us with a gust of chilly air, a crisp contrast to our typical warm-weather holiday spots. Our adventure kicked off with a helicopter ride that offered unparalleled views of Alaska’s magnificent mountain ranges and sprawling glaciers. The boys, usually buzzing with energy, sat in stunned silence, mesmerized by the sheer expanse of the frozen wilderness beneath us. Their wide-eyed wonder was the first indication that we had chosen our vacation destination wisely.
From the Sky to the Ice
Our sky-high adventure was followed by a thrilling dog sledding experience. We zigzagged through frost-laden trees, our laughter echoing through the silent snowscape. Books Over Trinkets
At each port of call, we bypassed the traditional souvenir shops for local bookstores. Instead of trinkets, we collected tales of Alaska’s wilderness, animals, and people. These books became our most cherished souvenirs, each story a thread woven into the fabric of our journey.
A New Travel Metric
Our Alaska trip has also given birth to a new travel metric. Khai and Khang, after exploring and falling in love with Alaska, wondered aloud if this was a place they would want to bring their own children to in the future. Their enthusiastic ‘yes’ was the ultimate endorsement for our family trip.
