Back to School + Our Summer Adventures

This morning, the boys rode their bikes to school – helmets strapped, backpacks bouncing, and that mix of excitement and nerves that comes with the first day. In our district, elementary goes through 4th grade, which means this will be Khai and Khang’s last year walking the same halls for quite a while. The next time they’re at the same school, Khai will be a high school senior and Khang a freshman. I can’t quite wrap my head around that.

So, we’re planning to savor this year. Every side-by-side bike ride. Every story shared over after-school snacks.

A Summer to Remember

We packed this summer full of adventures – ones that will live in our family’s memory for years to come. We started with a breathtaking trip to Grand Teton National Park, where jagged peaks rose against endless blue skies and wildflowers dotted our paths. The boys loved spotting wildlife and hiking trails that felt like something out of a painting. (You can read more about our trip here.)

From there, we explored the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Between geysers that erupted with surprising force and bison grazing just steps from our car, it was a trip full of awe and wonder. And getting to relax at our cabin’s balcony while admiring deers and elks at sunset was such a beautiful bonus. (Full trip details here.)

Looking Ahead

This school year holds so much promise. Khai is stepping into 4th grade with his natural curiosity and growing independence, ready to take on leadership roles. Khang, now in 1st grade, approaches each day with boundless energy and an eagerness to learn (and go through his teacher’s entire collection of chapter books haha).

I know the days will be busy — homework, dive, piano, soccer, projects, and all the little moments in between. But I also know how quickly these years will pass. So for now, I’m soaking it all in: the sound of their bikes rolling down the driveway together, the way they look out for each other in the chaos of the morning, and the joy of knowing they get to share this chapter, side by side.

Here’s to a school year full of growth, laughter, and stories worth telling. ❤️
