Bellefonte Art Museum C19 Photo Project

Never in a million years would I expect to walk into an art museum and see my work on display. Printed, framed, mounted art. How extra meaningful that the work features my boys. One day, they’ll be able to look back on this moment and appreciate its significance.

Today? Well….

Me: Khai, what did you think about seeing your own image at the museum?
Khai: I would rather see a dinosaur exhibit.

Ah, the innocence of childhood. That was precisely the message behind this photo – Innocence in the Time of Pandemic. This whole year+, my boys loved staying home. They don’t seem to mind (or realize) a disruption to normal life. They even happily wear masks. They found new joy and purpose. Khang loves spending every waking moment with his big brother. He does and says everything his brother does (and miraculously, Khai doesn’t mind). Khai used the extra time at home to launch a podcast about interesting animal facts. It was also his way of staying connected to his friends.

While I’ve been fortunate enough to have received my first dose of the vaccine, this pandemic isn’t over. And just like that, both my boys will have celebrated two birthdays in quarantine. But that’s such a small price to pay for their health, safety, and all the silver linings we realized during this C19 time.
